- GHI Spring 2010 Farm Retreat - volunteering at Long Hill Farm in Beverly, MA with The Food Project
- Maasai: At the Crossroads. A world university premiere of a documentary about enriching the lives of Maasai children through education while respecting their customs, traditions and way of life. A panel discussion and Q&A followed the event. The panelists included Calestous Juma, Professor of the Practice of International Development & the narrator, Teri Gabrielsen, Founder & Director of Africa School Kenya, and the two producers of the film, Joe Dietsch and Kristin Jordan. The event was followed by an interactive demo by One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) and a reception (10/30/09).
- World Food Day Events in collaboration with the Harvard University Dining Services on advocacy, education, and action on issues related to both local and global food insecurity. A powerful PowerPoint Presentation and visual display was organized and shown at all Harvard undergraduate and graduate dining halls to raise awareness about global hunger issues (10/16/09).
- Enhancing Africa's Human Welfare and Economic Development: The Role of Science and Technology Universities, Discussion and Desserts with Vice-Chancellor Mabel Imbuga of Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology, Kenya, and Calestous Juma, Professor of the Practice of International Development, Harvard Kennedy School (9/23/09).
- Ingredients of Global Food Security: 5 Voices Debate the Political, Economic, and Technological Outlook, A Panel Discussion with Howard Zucker, Former Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organization, Richard Leach, Founder of the Friends of the World Food Programme, Robert Paarlberg, Professor of Political Science, Wellesley College, Anita McGahan, Professor and Rotman Chair in Management, University of Toronto, and Thomas Burke, Director of the Division of Global Health and Human Rights, MGH (4/29/09).
- 5 Voices | 3 Causes: A Fundraising Dinner for Global Food Security, food for this dinner were donated by Harvard Square restaurants, including Henrietta’s, Rialto, Spice, Toscanini’s, among others. We had wonderful performances by a violinist and the Radcliffe Pitches, a female acapella group on campus. 100% of the ticket sales were donated to three causes around the world – a malnutrition program in South Sudan, a community development program in Nicaragua, and the Women’s Lunch Place in Boston. - One Laptop Per Child: Changing the World, A Public Lecture by Nicholas Negroponte, Chairman and Founder, One Laptop per Child (OLPC), and Calestous Juma, Professor of the Practice of International Development, Harvard Kennedy School (11/20/08)
- AgroText planning meetings. We developed a model for a new text-messaging system for agricultural communities in Kenya, and won the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) 2.0 Development Challenge, Awarded Top 15 Finalist for AgroText proposal.

- Zimbabwe Kumpemha Fundraising Dinner to benefit PASSOP (People against Suffering, Suppression, Oppression, and Poverty). PASSOP is a South Africa-based organization dedicated to providing assistance to Zimbabweans—both those who remain in Zimbabwe and those who have fled for their lives to South Africa. This event was organized by the HLS Advocates for Human Rights and HLS Alliance for Israel, and co-hosted by the Harvard College Advocates, HASA, and the Harvard College Global Hunger Initiative (2/16/09).
